Initial Contact – You may contact us by e-mail or by phone. In either case be sure the leave a contact phone number so that we can follow up with you.
COVID-19 Precautions – If you prefer to meet remotely we can set up a Zoom meeting. With a face-to-face meeting we will follow the current recommendations for masking and social distancing.
Preserve Documents – Nearly every case comes with documentation that helps explain what happened that causes someone to reach out for legal help. It is important to preserve those documents in a safe place. You might also have taken notes or kept a journal of what happened in the workplace. Those notes can be an important source of verifying your memory of events.
Formal Representation – After making an evaluation of the situation, the firm will make a decision about whether to take on representing you. The firm will extend an attorney-client agreement to you if the firm agrees to take your case. The agreement will address attorney fees and case expenses. Fees are often, but not always, based on a contingency percentage. Before that time, understand that the firm has not taken on formal obligations to you.
Chronology – It is usually helpful to prepare a chronology, a list of events in order of the time that they occurred. In evaluating the matter, a chronology helps toward an understanding of how and why certain events occurred.
